Support for all pupils
At Haarlem College, we believe in good guidance for all pupils is important. For that reason, we have opted for the term support instead of care. Support is not just for “students requiring care”.
If support in the classroom is insufficient, you will find further support that we can deploy on this page, should it be necessary.
Support profile
In the support profile (at the bottom of this page), you can read about the support available for pupils at Haarlem College. It is a complete description of the support available in daily educational practice. We do not call this ‘care’, because we believe that all pupils should receive the support they need, within the possibilities we can offer.
Care pathway
At the bottom of this page, you will find a download named ‘Zorgroute Haarlem College’. This document outlines the process followed when a student requires additional support. Within the document, you will see that the mentor is central to the guidance provided. Furthermore, there are various steps involved in ensuring each student receives the appropriate support.
Support card
At the start of the school year, our remedial teacher speaks to all pupils diagnosed with dyscalculia, dyslexia, or any other (language) problem. If necessary, the remedial teacher issues a support card to the pupil. This card details the resources or guidance the pupil requires. Pupils who do not have dyslexia or dyscalculia but could benefit from additional measures for other reasons are also eligible for a support card.
