The havo at Haarlem College is on solid ground. Since the department's inception, a great deal of care has gone into building excellent education, personal attention, and a safe learning environment. With results: the inspectorate has rated our havo as sufficient assessed. That is the highest possible judgement.
Important to know: this inspection visit did not take place because there were concerns, but because an inspection at the start of a new department routinely checks if the quality is in order. The conclusion was clear: yes. The inspection visited lessons and spoke with teachers, mentors, the support team and pupils.

Distinctive HAVO: not just in books
What sets our HAVO apart is the combination of thinking and doing. As headteacher Robin Hoenderdos explains in the Haarlems Dagblad It seems that the combination of thinking and doing also appeals to many pupils with a HAVO recommendation. Not with their noses in books all day, but also making something. Good support

This development is also seen outside of school. Haarlems Dagblad wrote that the HAVO department is here to stay. Councillor Bas van Leeuwen spoke of a „successful start” and of „steady and carefully organised growth” towards a „stable HAVO provision in Schalkwijk”.
