Pupils should be able to decide for themselves when to share a grade.
A large number of pupils experience pressure when they receive a grade at any given moment. A pleasant afternoon with friends can suddenly turn sour, for example, if the maths grade comes in and is disappointing. Upon arriving home, a parent often already knows how it went, which can lead to an uncomfortable situation. Because grades are published at random times, the pupil loses the opportunity to initiate a conversation about a disappointing result or to proudly talk about a good grade.
Haarlem College and exam results in Magister
Based on feedback from students and teachers, Haarlem College has decided to start using Magister Cijfertijd.
Grade Release is a new feature offered by the Magister student administration system. From now on, grades will only be published on specific days and at specific times. This means that both students and parents will know exactly when the new grades are available in Magister.
Fixed moments
At Haarlem College, grades are now published at fixed times:
Monday to Friday between 16:00 and 16:10
During holidays, public holidays and (home) study days, no new figures published.
