What is it?
The MAVO at Haarlem College is a fully-fledged MAVO with the advantages of a VMBO school. For instance, besides the MAVO, you can also opt for a Mixed Learning Pathway variant, where you follow an additional vocational subject. All MAVO students follow an extra subject, ensuring a smooth transition to HAVO. Furthermore, both the MAVO and the Mixed Learning Pathway provide a good foundation for MBO.
On the *mavo* (secondary general education), you get a lot of theory lessons. The lessons are given by expert teachers who specialise in teaching *mavo* students. Good support is available, which means that even students with vocational advice sometimes obtain a *mavo* diploma at Haarlem College.
In the download, which you'll find at the bottom of this page, you can view all of the subject packages for Mavo.
What are you learning?
On the Mavo, you have a lot of theoretical subjects. You learn everything that is needed to start an MBO level 3 or 4 course well-prepared, or to be able to transfer to the HAVO. In addition to theory, you naturally also have PE and arts subjects. In the Mixed Vocational Stream, alongside the theoretical subjects, you also have one vocational subject, in which you do something more practically oriented.
